Napoleon sponsored the revival of the Comedie Francaise. He often invited its finest tragedian, Talma, to breakfast to discuss drama, including the proper state gestures of a monarch. These Comedie Francaise performers, awaiting entrances in a Moliere comedy, work under provisions of an enlightened theatrical code signed by Napoleon in Moscow in 1812.
